Team Trinity's Fundraiser

Me & The Prez

Anna, Emily, and Dawn show off their perfect smiles.

It looks like someone has been eating her spinach. Popeye would be proud.
Is that two beers toasting or fallopian tubes? Yes, I know that it’s two beers, but that what I was reminded of. It’s the only reason why I took this picture.

Valhalla 3/26/08

Valhalla was rocking this past Wednesday. I don’t know if I would have graduated if the school that I went to had a bar on campus that offered cheap beer. Actually I probably would have anyway. From Alcoholics Anonymous that is. I’m just kidding. Quitting is for slackers, and I never quit. On several occasions I have had a blast and happily gone home knowing that my total tab for the night was less than 5 bucks.

Truth be told, College Station was pretty cheap too. I once remember buying 3 pitchers and only spending 9 dollars.

Valhalla 3/13/08

Wednesday’s beer was courtesy of Eddie Rodriguez. It was his way of thanking all the people who volunteered for the Bayou City Classic. Even though I didn’t volunteer, I still helped with the killing of the tab. I can’t let free beer go to waste.

Bayou City Classic

The Bayou City Classic has come and gone. Good times were had by all. The weather in my opinion was excellent. If I had been better prepared or if my training had gone better, I might have also have had a great run. At least the beer at the end makes the fact that I ran so slow a little easier to accept. That and some greasy tacos make this one of my favorite races. On a side note, this is where I set my 10k PR. I ran a super fast 37:30 last year compared to a pedestrian 39:01 this year. All four races that I have run this year have been slower than last years. Father Time must be catching up to me. In my case it’s more likely my expanding beer belly.

My Texas Highways Shot

This is my attempt at professional photography. I actually saw this style in Texas Highways. It's called a Montage. Basically the photographer takes several shots of the same scene and arranges them so that they all blend together. Maybe someone from Texas Highways will contact me and ask me to send them my pictures. What I really like about this scene is how this little park is surrounded by skyscrapers. Gotta love downtown Houston.

Those crazy Tornados

I really hope they won the award for best centipede. I’m sure they were one of the fastest. Their zoo theme was a great idea. People that I know from left to right are: Leno, Jennifer, Sim, and Jeff.

Bayou City Divas

Donna, Lara, and Kathy do their best to channel Paris, Lindsay, and Britney. Look closely and you can see that Paris has her dog, Lindsay has her drink, and Britney has her baby.

Foxy Zebras

Jennifer and her friend show off their wild sides.

Jeff the giraffe

This is the perfect outfit for Jeff. I am surprised Toys R Us hasn’t come knocking on his door. Jeff is one tough competitor. I’m sure if he hadn’t run on a centipede, he would have easily broken 38 minutes.

Bayou City’s Paparazzi

Kevin Federline prepares for his run; chasing after Britney no doubt.

Valhalla 3/05/08

This is the last picture I took of the night. As I was walking to my car, I was struck by how the trees looked with the light shining behind them. The lack of leaves and light combined to make the trees appear to be made of gold. Trust me, if they had been made of gold I would have chopping them down in an instant.
Danni, Lara, & Matt

Matt is currently kicking butt on the track. I understand why I haven’t been able to keep up with him this season. He is clearly much faster than me. Hopefully that beer he is drinking will slow him down.

Bill earlier gave me some Boston pointers. He ran a 3:06 there.

Happy Birthday Omar

Last night we celebrated Omar’s 32nd birthday. Omar is the last of the three Amigos to turn 32. First it was Taco, then me, and finally The Big O. We started off at Collina’s for dinner, then walked over to the Ginger Man, and finally ended the night at the Volcano. Collina’s is trendy because they allow you to bring your own wine. Some customers bring top of the line wines. You can usually spot them by the containers they bring them in. They are usually made of metal and expensive looking. We on the other hand brought two bottles of Yellow Tail that we bought at the Valero gas station. I think the corking fee was more than the bottles of wine. Only the best for us.

We have yet to have a bad night when the gang gets together. Let me share a couple of interesting facts about this picture. First, Omar has at one point in time lived with everyone in this picture. He first shared an apartment with Frank. Frank then moved out and Taco moved in. He then shared an apartment with Nate. Finally he moved in with me when he came back from Beaumont. Second, with the exception of me, everyone compete for the University of Houston. I’m sure I would have too, if I had gone to U of H. Maybe not, unless they had a beer drinking team.
Is it me or are those devil horns I see on Omar.

I am the greatest!

This past Wednesday was Amanda’s birthday. She turned 29 for the third time in a row. I’m speaking from experience when I say there is nothing wrong with turning 32. Well actually since I have turned 32, I have yet to PR in a race. Maybe there is something to this getting older stuff.
For her birthday Amanda had wanted to start off the night with some bowling. She even sent an email saying, “I can already smell the bowling shoes, and a victory.” Well guess what, she didn’t win. I did. As you can clearly see, The Big S won by a whopping 2 points. In retrospect, maybe I should have let her win. It was her birthday.

Houston Rodeo Cook Off 2008

Thursday night found us attending the cook off for our third year in a row. It might be four, but I honestly can not remember. It probably has something to do with all our drinking. This edition was no different. I would call it a yearly tradition, but I don’t want to jinx it. I have been very lucky to keep being invited. The best thing about these private tents is the FREE BEER and food. Our host was so gracious and generous that there was no need to go back for seconds. I still did anyway. I hope it doesn’t affect my 10k tomorrow.
